How appropriate for my situation. :-P.

When I get better and do get a job, I'll probably drink a gin and tonic rather than a blended scotch though.

I'll drink most things. I'm not 21 yet, so pretty much take what's in front of me.

Is everyone (with the exception of Fuchs) alcoholic?

I've got a bottle of Silver Patrón sitting around that's taken me and the girl friend 8 months to go through 2/3rds of it. We're finally almost finished with a bottle of vodka we bought six months ago. In the same period we got through a bottle of orange liqueur and finish 1/2 a bottle of coffee liqueur. We have half a bottle of Jagermeister that's been sitting around for two years. And a bottle of bottom shelf rum.

We also kill a bottle of red wine approximate every two months. I had a good bottle of South American Shiraz that I can't remember the name of, and my girlfriend likes Red Diamond Cabernet.

Also, I have a Young's Double Chocolate stout on occasion.

So on the whole, mostly hard alcohol but light drinker. And no taste at all. For whatever reason, my alcohol consumption spiked at around 20 and has been declining ever since.

No, no.

I just know my alcohol.

Seriously. The last time, I was a boozehound was before my kid was born, almost 3 years ago.

But I will let the Den decide if I was an alcoholic during college just by this action -- I spent an entire paycheck on varied booze that lasted for about three weeks.

Nope. There was one time I was drinking a fair bit, but to be fair, I was living in Sydney and was miserable. I learned that you can still beat Dynasty Warriors while drunk: just play as Ling Tong, keep running forwards and jam the C-4 combo repeatedly.

And naturally, I had my moments, drinking a hell of a lot at parties a couple of times per year (but making up for that by basically not drinking the rest of the time). And now, nothing.

CGF, I am a total non-drinker. Thanks to bartender friends, I know about alcohols, but I myself do not drink them.

I am not an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to meetings. I am a drunk.

I'm a fan of Wild Turkey. I used to do shots, but now I mix it with Sprite or Sprite Zero.

I don't like Tennessee whiskey, Canadian whisky, Scotch, or most other types of Bourbon for that matter.

I don't drink beer for the most part.

Is everyone (with the exception of Fuchs) alcoholic?
Well, at least I'm a pretty high-functioning one.

Beer: I just about never pay for beer, so I usually end drinking the PBR, Yuengling and/or Straub's provided by my gaming buddies. If I'm buying a case for a party, I'll go with
Cheap: Keystone Ice (extra drunky for cheep) or Mickeys Big Mouths (for that Frank's Wild Years feeling)
Medium: Corona (and fresh limes, those are mandatory) or Heineken (mainly so when someone brings out the PBR someone does the relevant line from Blue Velvet)
High-end: Chimay Grande Réserve. (and if ~$150 a case isn't high end to you, I don't want to hear what is)

Wine: I'm notorious for a couple box-wine incidents - like the time I thought I was a hood ornament and the other time I insisted on running my Rolemaster game in a language none of the players spoke - that sort of thing is why you should avoid the cheap box wine. Nowadays I'll generally go with Lancer's Rose - which is a very drinkable table wine.

Hard stuff: So far, the most meaningful discovery of my entire life has been Old Crow and Tang. This combination of bottom shelf bourbon with the only other thing in the house at the time works better than it has any sane reason to - try it sometime. Seriously.
Darcy likes Dr. McGillicudy's vanilla schnapps tumbled with ice and half and half - like most girly drinks, it's an alcoholic milkshake, but unlike most this one actually works.
And a couple warnings from experience
151 Rum: Do not chug from bottle - that always ends poorly.
And even if you listen to nothing else I ever say: avoid Rohol. Seriously, do not do it.

I remember those days. We used to calculate how much alcohol each beer had per dollar and buy whatever had the most.

The only beer I've ever though was good was my friend's roommate's homebrewed larger. It doesn't help that Australia has an obsession with bitter beers, those are horrible. But even aside from that the breadlike taste is gross.

Like Koumei I don't really drink anymore though.

We have a saying about American beer: It is like sex in a canoe
fucking close to water
As a fun fact: the Czech consulate in Saigon is a bar. It is the best beer in town and only about a buck and a half for a half liter. I'd only drink there if it weren't across town and 2 of my friends only drink vodka, which is hideously expensive at the Czech consulate.

Of course there is local draft beer which is only 60 cents for 2 liters....[/spoiler]

Which is why you get the higher alcohol Keystone Ice - this is not something anyone drinks for the taste - it's sole selling point is the drunkeness to cost ratio.

Some Irish friends of mine back in the states would only drink Natural Ice, or "Natty Ice" as we called it - purely for the ethanol to dollars ratio. The stuff was vile, and I couldn't even touch it unless I'd had four or five drinks of something else first.

Here in the Czech Republic there's Branik, which costs roughly twice as much as the bottle deposit. So if you buy 9 half liters of Branik, you can return the bottles for 3 more bottles of Branik. Then you can return those bottles for another bottle of Branik. I mean, there's cheaper beers, but I don't see the benefit in drinking Primus or any other hobo juice. Even Branik is pretty sketchy when Staropramen, Gambrinus, and Kozel can be had for slightly more than fifty cents if you buy from a store.

Kozel is hardly any good though.

And alcoholism is a state of mind.
Joe, who plans to own Newall's Plumbing Company, asked the presidential hopeful about his plan to increase taxes for some Americans. He felt that Obama's increase plan may redistribute wealth.

"Robin Hood stole from greedy rich people and redistributed it to the peasants, so to speak, so if he's [Obama] calling us peasants, I kind of resent that," -Joe the Plumber, a Republican.

Just well-versed. I go through a six-pack a week, sometimes two.

When I was living in Florida with nothing to do I drank a shitload of cognac and smoked a lot of dope - now that I live somewhere entertaining and there's more to do than simply get fucked up and play videogames or RP, I have much more moderate consumption.

Remy-Martin XO. I had a souped-up laptop with its exhaust fan on the side and would put my snifter right there to keep the cognac nice and warm. Any less than XO tastes like ass, and I still love City of Heroes despite not playing it in three years. :p

For the record, there are a LOT of excellent (and potent) American beers.

Here are two excellent ones:

Heavy Seas, an excellent Imperial Stout @ 8% APV

Moo Thunder, a lighter Stout @ 4.9% APV

Wild Turkey, somehow I'm not surprised. What with your avatar and all.

I had a bottle that a friend bought, and couldn't finish, it made his mouth entirely too dry. It does dry the mouth a bit, but for me, as long as there is plenty of ice, or if it's served ice cold, I can drink anything that has a not disgusting flavour (tequila, and gin, I give you both the stinkeye, I've never liked either of you).

The last mickey of of bacardi gold and sothern comfort that I bought oh....4 or so months ago are still in the chest freezer in the laundry room.

I tend to leave my alcohol be for extended periods of time. Plus there's some beer that I bought earlier this week, and it's been months since I've had beer (the trip of argentina being a case of simply being at a lot of family dinners, and eating out a lot).

If anything, I drink red wine more often than anything else, a glass or two once every two weeks. Our family keeps its wine in an apartment locker that is located in the underground parking of our condo apartment. As a result my dad buys a 6 or 12 bottle case of wine when he finds something that is really good, and inexpensive. We need to finish what we've got b/c there's about 20-ish bottles that are still around from 2006, and they shouldn't stay too much longer, old wine can be disgusting.

Honestly, I don't really drink that often, and I've never really been drunk enough to lose complete control of my wits, or fall in a heap, as I've seen some people do. I did throw up fluid the first time i got drunk, the long island iced tea didn't set well, and came back up after an hour or so.

I'm not sure I am. I sat in a pub from 7 to 11 yesterday and drank only soft drinks.

I just happen to know my drinks. It's like knowing your food, except there aren't any non-eaters to ask you if you're overweight.

Yeah, it's dirt cheap. It's also undrinkable. If you're so poor that you have to drink Keystone, you might as well get a fvcking job.

Keystone is *the* college beer around these parts for exactly the reason you mentioned. I don't drink at most parties unless I bring a handle of something or am friends with the host (to get the hard liquor hidden from the general populous) because otherwise it's just keystone light.

Yeah, that people actually buy that stuff pisses me off. I'm with Frank on this. I can't drink it unless I'm already drunk and at that point it's defeating the whole purpose.

And Natty is almost the exact same, if slightly cheaper and slightly more vile.

Give me hard liquor for getting drunk. Give me Heineken to relax after a rough day. Give me a glass of merlot to discuss things on a lazy sunday afternoon. Don't give me Keystone or Natty.

I'm not an alcoholic, I'm a gourmand. I enjoy pleasures of the flesh (although the most significant one has eluded me for nearly 3 years at this point, but I'm hopeful about the lady I'm seeing next week. She's definitely cuter and less crazy than any woman I've dated thus far).

I'm not sure you get the point of getting drunk :p

When I wanted to get drunk, I'd start with a few girly drinks for taste, and to stealthily kill my "Don't do it!" cells, then go on to sake, absinthe and vodka shots. After that, I might end up doing tequila shots or drinking vodka straight from the bottle.

Although the first time (indeed, the first time I ever got drunk) it was a case of not knowing vodka was strong. I had just had a cruiser, which contained vodka, and thought "Okay, vodka is pretty weak". So I filled a glass up with straight Smirnoff, and the rest is history.

Nope.

I tend to have a lot of alcohol in the house, but I would rather cook with it than get drunk. I like the occasional beer - Asahi dry is one of my favorites - and I like dry wines, preferably white. I fell in love with a Chianti that some friends brought back from Italy a while back, but that was a rare and precious thing. I also really love Sheridan's, but to the best of my knowledge, you can't buy it casually around here.
My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.
